Jennifer Kellner, 29, of Bridgeport, has been sentenced in Hartford to 18 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release for a pair of bank robberies in 2017.
On Aug. 15, 2017, Kellner admitted to entering Chase Bank on Boston Avenue in Bridgeport, at which point she handed the teller a brown paper bag and a note demanding money. U.S. Attorney John Durham said that she told the teller “not to do anything stupid because there were a lot of people here and small children.”
The teller proceeded to place $1,987 in cash into the bag and Kellner took off on foot.
Kellner struck again on Aug. 23, 2017, robbing approximately $1,000 from the Chase Bank on Main Street in Bridgeport. During the second robbery, Kellner threatened to shoot the teller if the teller pushed any buttons in an effort to alert police to the robbery.
Kellner was arrested on Aug. 27, 2017. On April 8 this year, she pleaded guilty to one count of bank robbery.
Durham said that Kellner remains released on bond and is currently residing in a drug treatment facility. She is required to report to prison on Jan. 6, 2020.
